The Al Asab story Building happiness Al Asab began 38 years ago, as a small construction company. We built bridges and eventually, huge oil terminals. In Arabic, Al Asab means ‘sinew’. We learned how to use our muscles, how to build. By building well, we got more projects throughout the Middle East and Africa, and we grew. We know how to look at an empty piece of land, and imagine a road on it, and we know how to make that road a reality. It takes a lot of different skills, from planning and engineering to managing people. We care about every single detail. As we have grown, our ambitions have too. We have started to look at land, and imagine wonderful buildings, with schools, a mosque, gardens: and homes for growing families. Homes are harder to build than bridges. Deep down, we know people never really want a bridge – they just need to be connected to the other side of the river and a bridge is the best way to achieve that. A home is where the best of life happens – sitting down to food with friends, couples becoming families, children playing and doing homework. They offer a place to exercise, a place to relax, and a space in which to refresh ourselves. The heart of all our projects will be nature.
